SUMMARY:Movie in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Spend a night under the stars with ACU\, your family and friends at UP’s annual Movie in the Park at Cirque Park on Saturday\, Aug. 1 – always the first Saturday in August! \nThis year’s movie is the beloved classic “The Sandlot” — a perfect choice as our nation celebrates its 250th birthday. Few things capture the American spirit quite like a summer evening\, a close-knit group of kids\, and a timeless game of baseball. This heartwarming film is a tribute to friendship\, community\, and the simple joys that bring us together.  \nMake plans to pack up the kids\, a blanket or chairs and get ready for a memorable evening of free family fun courtesy of the City of University Place! \nPlease note: The event venue is lawn seating. As a courtesy to all viewers\, those with taller lawn chairs are asked to set up their seats toward the back of the viewing area so that everyone can see the movie.

SUMMARY:Christmas Tree Lighting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Market Square on Friday\, Dec. 4. The City of University Place will celebrate the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Market Square with food\, music\, children’s activities and much\, much more. \nFestivities begin at 5 p.m.\, with U.P. students setting a joyful tone through choir performances\, cheerleading\, and drumline processions. Shortly afterward\, Santa will make his big entrance aboard a West Pierce Fire & Rescue engine before settling in beside the Civic Building Atrium fireplace for photos from 5–7 p.m. Families can also enjoy a variety of fun children’s activities in the Atrium during this time. \nOutdoors\, Santa’s reindeer will be greeting visitors\, the firepit will be glowing\, and music will fill the Square! \nAt 6 p.m.\, the celebration pauses briefly as members of the U.P. City Council flip the switch and illuminate the community Christmas tree\, a highlight of the evening! \nMake it a full night out by grabbing dinner from one of University Place’s favorite local restaurants or from the food trucks on site\, which will be announced as the event draws closer. \nIt promises to be another memorable holiday in U.P. and we hope you will be a part of it!
