Pilot for a Day Program – November, 2025

ACU is honored to continue its support of the Pilot for a Day Program, organized by the McChord Air Force Association. This inspiring initiative gives children facing health challenges the opportunity to experience life as a pilot for a day, creating unforgettable memories centered around their love of aviation.

This year’s participant was Micah Stone, a bright and courageous child who, along with his mother Melissa, enjoyed a day filled with exciting activities at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM).

Micah’s adventure began on Wednesday evening with a warm welcome at Farrelli’s Pizza in DuPont, where he received his very own flight suit, name tag, and flight cap, presented by Capt. Jordan Peterson, USAF, and 1LT Jane Kim, USAF. The dinner set the stage for an incredible day ahead.

On Thursday, November 13, Micah suited up and embarked on a full itinerary of aviation-themed experiences:

  • Santa’s Castle – A special visit to kick off the day
  • Helicopter Tour (2-158 AHB) – A behind-the-scenes look at Army helicopters
  • Military Working Dog Demonstration – An up-close experience with the skilled K-9 units
  • Air Traffic Control Tower Tour – Learning how air traffic is managed at McChord Airfield
  • Lunch at 4AS Heritage Room – Hosted by 4AS and 62d Leadership
  • C-17 Static Display – Exploring one of the Air Force’s most iconic aircraft
  • Intel/Tactics Brief & C-17 Simulator Flight – Micah stepped into the role of a pilot, flying a simulated mission alongside Capt. Peterson
  • Ice Cream Social & Farewell – A sweet ending to an unforgettable dayPhoto-Nov-13-2025-9-52-01-AM
