A Credit Union for Every Member Means a Website for Every Member
America's Credit Union builds and tests youracu.org toward Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 Level AA, so members who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, or captions get the same banking as everyone else.

WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the Standard the DOJ Points To
We build toward and measure this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the Web Accessibility Initiative of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). We chose WCAG because it is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice references for website accessibility.
There is no definitive test or certification of Level AA conformance, so we use several methods to assess it: expert audits against the W3C's evaluation methodology (WCAG-EM), automated scanning with axe-core on live pages, and hands-on keyboard passes. Human screen reader testing with NVDA and VoiceOver is scheduled, and this page will be updated with the results.
Most recently audited August 19, 2026: automated scans across ten representative pages, manual contrast verification, and keyboard checks. The next review happens after any template change and at least annually.
We work to make every page conform, and when a page falls short we want to know about it. Tell us through the feedback channel below and fixing it becomes our work item, not your workaround.
What Accessibility Looks Like on This Site
Each item below is implemented across youracu.org and re-checked whenever pages change. Accessibility work is never finished; when something falls short, the feedback path below is how it gets fixed.
Contrast That Meets the Bar
Body text, buttons, links, and fine print were re-toned to meet WCAG contrast ratios, including the orange brand accents and the dark footer.
Full Keyboard Access
Skip-to-content link on every page, keyboard-operable menus and search, a focus trap in dialogs, and focus returned to where you left off.
Real Structure for Screen Readers
Meaningful headings, labeled form fields, table header scopes, image alt text, and ARIA wiring on accordions and dialogs.
Motion That Respects Your Settings
Videos and animations pause automatically when your device asks for reduced motion, and Display Options can stop them entirely.
Works With Assistive Technology
Built to work with screen readers, magnification, and voice control, and tested by keyboard and automated tooling while human assistive-technology testing is completed.
Accessible by Default, Adjustable by Choice
The site meets the standard without any settings. Display Options adds larger text, high contrast, a readable font, underlined links, and motion stop on top.
Display Options, One Click From Every Page
The Display Options button in the footer of every page opens settings that apply sitewide and are remembered on your device.
Open Display Options
Select Display Options in the footer of any page, or the button at the top of this one.
Pick What Helps
Larger text in two sizes, high contrast, a readable font, underlined links, and a switch that stops motion and videos.
Keep It Everywhere
Your choices follow you across the whole site and are remembered the next time you visit on the same device. Reset any time.
Your device helps too. Every major operating system offers text scaling, system-wide contrast themes, and text-to-speech. The W3C keeps a plain-language guide at Better Web Browsing: Tips for Customizing Your Computer.
Where Our Reach Ends
Some services on this site are operated by third-party vendors: online banking, loan and membership applications, and our virtual assistant. Their pages are not under our direct control, and we cannot guarantee they meet the same standard.
We are not off the hook for them. We ask our vendors for their accessibility conformance documentation, we raise barriers members report to us directly with the vendor, and vendor accessibility is part of how we evaluate the services we offer.
Found a Barrier? That Is a Bug, and We Fix Bugs
If any part of this site does not conform to Level AA, or you are using assistive technology and something is not working, we want to hear about it.
Reach Us Any Way You Like
Send us a message, call us, or tell any branch team member. Whatever is easiest for you is right.
What Helps Us Fix It Fast
The page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you use. Even a rough description gets us started.
