Christmas Tree Lighting

Join us for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Market Square on Friday, Dec. 4. The City of University Place will celebrate the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Market Square with food, music, children’s activities and much, much more.

Festivities begin at 5 p.m., with U.P. students setting a joyful tone through choir performances, cheerleading, and drumline processions. Shortly afterward, Santa will make his big entrance aboard a West Pierce Fire & Rescue engine before settling in beside the Civic Building Atrium fireplace for photos from 5–7 p.m. Families can also enjoy a variety of fun children’s activities in the Atrium during this time.

Outdoors, Santa’s reindeer will be greeting visitors, the firepit will be glowing, and music will fill the Square!

At 6 p.m., the celebration pauses briefly as members of the U.P. City Council flip the switch and illuminate the community Christmas tree, a highlight of the evening!

Make it a full night out by grabbing dinner from one of University Place’s favorite local restaurants or from the food trucks on site, which will be announced as the event draws closer.

It promises to be another memorable holiday in U.P. and we hope you will be a part of it!
