You made the purchase, but something went wrong: billing errors, double charges, merchandise never received, or a merchant who will not make it right. Try to resolve it with the merchant first, then complete the Cardholder Dispute Form with your account of what happened and submit it by secure message or at any branch.

If Your Identity Is Stolen, Do This
Work the list top to bottom. Each step protects the ones after it.
File a police report
Report the theft to local law enforcement. Get the report number and the investigator's contact information; creditors and bureaus will ask for both.
Document everything
Keep a log of every call: date, time, company, person, and what was said. Track time and money spent. Identity theft cleanup is a paper war, and your log is ammunition.
Call the credit bureaus
Place a fraud alert and add a victim's statement asking creditors to contact you before opening anything new. Consider a full credit freeze at all three.
Close affected accounts
Work with ACU and any other financial institutions to close compromised accounts as "closed at member request." A few months later, pull fresh credit reports to confirm the corrections stuck.
Notify federal agencies
File with the FTC at identitytheft.gov or 877-438-4338. If your Social Security number is involved, report to the SSA fraud hotline at 800-269-0271. For mail theft, call the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455.
The Numbers That Matter in a Fraud Moment
Save these before you need them. All fraud lines connect you to a person who can act on your account.
