What Will My Car Payment Be?

Pick a term and the rate fills in at ACU's lowest rate for that term with autopay and direct deposit. Adjust anything; the numbers update as you type.

Pierce County averages about 9.4%

Estimated monthly payment

$0/mo
Amount financed$0
Sales tax financed$0
Total interest$0
Total of payments$0

Estimate only. Assumes sales tax is financed and excludes license, title, and fees. Assumes your trade-in is paid off; any amount you still owe on it would be added to your loan. Your rate and payment depend on creditworthiness and vehicle.

What Could Refinancing Save Me?

Financed at the dealership? Enter your current loan and compare it against ACU's 60 and 72 month rates with autopay and direct deposit.

Estimated monthly savings

$0/mo
Current payment$0/mo
New ACU payment$0/mo
Interest left on current loan$0
Interest on new loan$0
A longer term can lower the payment but cost more in total interest. Compare the two interest lines above before you decide.

Estimate only. Assumes your current payment retires the balance over the months remaining. ACU refinances loans from other lenders; your rate depends on creditworthiness and vehicle.

Turn the Estimate Into a Real Rate

Dealer financing adds the dealer's profit to your loan. Walking in pre-approved changes the conversation: you negotiate the price of the car, not the financing.

Questions Members Ask Before They Buy

60 months costs the least in total interest and gets you to ownership soonest. 72 or 84 months lowers the monthly payment but adds one or two years of interest, and ACU's floor rate can differ by term. Longer terms also make it more likely you will owe more than the car is worth for a while (GAP coverage, below, helps with that). Run all three in the calculator and choose the shortest term whose payment fits your budget.
The calculators start at ACU's lowest rate for each term with the 0.75% APR discount for autopay from an ACU account with direct deposit. Your rate depends on your credit and the vehicle, and qualifying members can earn discounts up to 1.25% through military service, autopay from an ACU account with direct deposit, and other programs. See the full table on our lending rates page.
Yes. Dealer financing often carries a markup, and if your credit has improved since you bought the car, the gap can be large. Enter your current balance, rate, and months remaining in the refinance calculator, then apply online or call 253-964-3113.
A common guideline is to keep total vehicle costs, payment plus insurance and fuel, under 15 to 20 percent of your take-home pay. Work backward: pick the monthly payment you are comfortable with, then adjust the vehicle price in the calculator until the payment lands there.
The payment calculator includes sales tax at the rate you enter and assumes it is financed into the loan. It does not include license, title, or dealer documentation fees, which vary. Washington sales tax varies by city; the 9.4% default is typical for Pierce County.
Pre-approval is a written commitment from ACU to a specific amount, rate, and term before you pick a vehicle, usually valid 30 to 60 days. It ends the payment-first sales pitch: you already know your payment on any loan amount, because you know your rate and term, so you negotiate the price of the car instead. It also removes the dealer reserve, the one to two point markup a finance office can add to a bank's wholesale rate.
About ten minutes and four things: personal details, housing costs, employment and income, and a rough total of your monthly debts. No vehicle picked out, no VIN; the pre-approval is for the loan, not the car. Decisions often come the same day, and it is not a purchase commitment. If you do not buy, it simply expires. ACU members: check your inbox first, since we send personalized pre-approval notices ahead of member car sale events. Learn more and apply.
If your car is totaled or stolen, insurance pays market value, which can be less than you owe, especially early in a long term with a small down payment. GAP coverage fills that difference. Ask about it when you apply; adding it at ACU typically costs far less than the dealer's version.

Calculator Disclosures

These calculators produce estimates for educational purposes only and are not a loan offer, a rate quote, or financial advice. Results depend entirely on the figures you enter and use simplified assumptions: payments are calculated with standard amortization, sales tax is assumed to be financed, and license, title, dealer, and documentation fees are excluded.

APR = Annual Percentage Rate. Rates shown are America's Credit Union's current floor rates by term less the 0.75% APR discount for autopay from an ACU account with a direct deposit equal to or greater than the loan payment, or less up to 1.25% with all discounts when that option is chosen, effective February 1, 2026 as published on our lending rates page, and subject to change without notice. Your actual rate is based on creditworthiness, term, and vehicle, and may be higher. Rate discounts of up to 1.25% are available to qualifying members. All loans subject to approval. Membership required. NMLS 449181.

Refinance estimates compare your entered current loan against a new ACU loan and assume your current payment retires the balance over the months you enter. Extending your term can lower your payment while increasing total interest paid.
